What is Sketchavember?
November 1st - 30th: SKETCHAVEMBER, or November A-Sketch-A-Day.
November is famous for National Novel Writing Month and several other artistic endeavours in the name of creativity that continue to inspire! However, not all of us are prolific writers; comic book makers, or can keep the promise of some of the steeper challenges this month has to offer.
Sketchavember is a modest yet limitless celebration of creativity that continues throughout the entire month of November. All there is to it is to spare but a moment and engage your creative side every day. Simply put, it is great to create things, regardless of size and goal. With pressures and expectations it’s a truth often easy to forget.
The only standard to live up to here is to take a moment—even thirty seconds is enough—to indulge your artistic side and create something. Anything. It’s your best work and your worst. Make it small scale or large scale. It may be a stick-figure joke scribbled on a napkin, warm-up doodles in order to get the will to draw at all, or an eight-hour painted professional illustration. Don’t let ‘talent’ or medium hold you back -draw, paint, write, take photographs, design, compose; anything goes.
It’s a personal goal. No one’s judging (and if they are they can sod off). Work was hell and you just didn’t have time to put your idea on paper that day? Just hold that thought and do it later. Have fun.
Bring your creative and impulsive side out during dark and dreary November!
This project is something I (jen) pulled out of my back pocket while fighting the blues two years ago. To my surprise I found it both inspirational and a great exercise! Enough so to make it a tradition. And: the more the merrier!
This tumblrblog serves a dual purpose: I will share my own attempt at November creativity here, and the invitation to join me is free and open to all! Links! exposure! find new amazing artists! You can submit art here directly, or a link to your own blog /gallery posts. See the submission guidelines for more details.
Art is meant to be contagious.
In short, be creative and have fun! Because—
